After almost 2 months of Summer Break, the ELMS was back on the weekend of August 28th 2022 in Spain.
The fourth round of the European Le Mans Series was held at the Catalunya circuit in Barcelona. 16 LMP2 cars were entered.
For this round, Reshad DE GERUS was replaced by the Danish driver Anders FJORDBACH.
During the collective tests of Thursday, Anders drives a maximum in order to adapt to our Oreca #30. This day, as well as the free practice on Friday and Saturday morning, was dedicated to collecting data for the qualifying session on Saturday.
August 27, 2022, 4:25 p.m., the lights turn green and LMP2 qualifying begins. The British driver, Richard BRADLEY, was in charge of this session. After experiencing some difficulties during the session, Richard placed the #30 Oreca on the last row of the LMP2 class. But we know that in motorsport anything can happen.
As in every ELMS race, Memo ROJAS took the start of the 4h of Barcelona. Starting 15th, Memo made an excellent start and managed to climb back up to 12th at the end of the first lap. During his stint, the Mexican managed to gain many positions and passed the wheel to Anders in 9th position.
The Danish driver, in his first race with the DUQUEINE Team, showed himself to be comfortable behind the wheel of the #30 car and made his way through the traffic without any problems. He even managed to make up some places. During his last laps, Anders battled with the #88 of AF Corse but did not get passed. He came in one lap after the #88 and passed the wheel to Richard BRADLEY who came out in 5th position.
The fight between AF Corse and DUQUEINE Team is not over. The two drivers offer us a nice battle during some laps. The pace in the race was good and the effort provided by the team during the last pit stop allowed DUQUEINE Team to cross the line in 6th.
We could call it a remontada !!! Congratulations to the whole team and to the drivers for the excellent work done. Next appointment in Belgium the weekend of September 23 in Spa.
