Third title in a row for Team DKR Engineering in Michelin Le Mans Cup
Team DKR Engineering won the Michelin Le Mans Cup for the third consecutive time. The NORMA M30 car N. 3 ended the last race of the season in third position.
The Luxembourg Team led by Kendy Janclaes once again showed their professionalism with a new trophy. The drivers François Kirmann and Laurents Hörr, achieved a strong season.
Less than ten points separate DKR Engineering to the Vice-Champion Team Lanan Racing, previous leader of the competition until the start of the last race.
Kendy Janclaes, Team manager
"We worked a lot during the winter in order to keep on performing well. We showed early in the 2019 season that we would be once again contenders for the title, but unfortunately the race has some unforeseen, such as Safety Cars, Stop & Go, etc. Which in the end made us lose some points. We had to push hard to come back and win for the third time this championship and each time with a different crew. NORMA did a good job throughout the season. The parts truck was present at every meeting and we never missed anything. In 2020, the goal is to enter a car in ELMS and a car in Michelin Le Mans Cup. We will start our tests in December and hope to finish our crews very quickly. The goal is to win. We will work to achieve this, both in ELMS and in Le Mans Cup. I discovered the changes made on the DUQUEINE D08. The car is very beautiful, I'm waiting to see its performance. I should go to the next generation in order to respect the new settlement. The M30 car was already very powerful and I hope that after the three years of racing, the D08 car will bring improvements on the front suspension and the brake cooling."
Laurents Hörr, driver
"It was a great season, marked by a very good performing car, well setup from a great Team. It could not have went much better I think, as in theory our worst race position was P4! For the moment, I want to continue with DKR Engineering in 2020 and try to go in ELMS with them, as it was an awesome Team spirit in 2019. I want to adapt as fast as possible to the new cars and the new challenges which come with the switch to ELMS, but I think we will be prepared very well for this. The Performance of the NORMA M30 this year was outstanding for sure. All fastest race laps have been driven in a NORMA car, I set 3 of them and a new Le Mans lap record. I think the NORMA had a great base and DUQUEINE made some improvements. The potential for a fast car should be there for sure, now it is up to the Teams to setup the car."
François Kirmann, driver
"Good and less good things in the championship, but a season that ended in the most beautiful way, with the Le Mans Cup title. I would like to thank the whole DKR Engineering Team for the great job they did all along the season, but also my teammate Laurents who once again showed his speed. For 2020 nothing is decided yet, but I want to continue in LMP3 category. The next step is obviously to go to the European Le Mans Series. We like victory, so the 2020 goal would be the ELMS title. I do not plan to compete in another championship because I want to stay focused on a single program. The NORMA M30 is an amazing car, it has proven itself! We did not have any problem during the season and the performances were always there. I followed closely the presentation of the DUQUEINE D08 prototype. The current car is already very powerful, so I can not wait to drive the D08 to see where the level of performance is."
Thibaut Mourgues, Engineer DUQUEINE Automotive
“We worked a lot on the overall performance of the car. Starting from the current prototype already very powerful, we focused our development on key sectors such as aerodynamics, the front suspension, brake cooling...”
Nine NORMA M30 cars were entered in Michelin Le Mans Cup for the 2019 season. Four finished on the top of the overall standings.
