Nielsen Racing offers the first NORMA victory in the Asian Le Mans Series

After Daytona’s victory last week, DUQUEINE Automotive continues to demonstrate excellence with the new victory of a NORMA M30 prototype this weekend in Australia.

This weekend was the second round of the 2020 Asian Le Mans Series at the Tailem Bend circuit, also called “The Bend”, in Australia. This new event on the 2019/2020 calendar of the Asian championship made a strong impression, both by its number of spectators and by the track performance.

For this first campaign in the Asian Le Mans Series for the Nielsen Racing team, the second race was the right one to conclude a perfect weekend. The NORMA M30 N°2 crew, made up of Colin Noble and Tony Wells, took pole position and won among the seven prototypes entered in the LMP3 category (including three NORMA M30).

Car N°2 won the race against valiant opponents including the team's sister car (NORMA M30 N°3) and the GRAFF car (NORMA M30 N°9) which finished at the bottom of the podium. This weekend in the Asian Le Mans Series ended in the best possible way for the English team with its pole position and its victory.

“Nielsen did a really good job, we had a fast car all weekend. I was just trying to get consistent lap times and open the gap. After a good strategy call from Nielsen we managed to expand it to over a minute which made the last 20 minutes of the race quite comfortable. I knew I had a big gap, and we had cold tyres after the restart so I just played it safe and bought it home.” Colin Noble, NORMA M30 N°2

“I was expecting (the heat) was going to be a big problem doing a double stint but it was alright. The track is awesome, is ridiculously long but it’s awesome.” Tony Wells, NORMA M30 N°2

Triumphant start to Asian campaign for DUQUEINE

This DUQUEINE victory is the first since the manufacturer’s arrival in Asia. This is another illustration of the performance of the prototype and the DUQUEINE teams, who have won their second victory in two races since the start of 2020.
